The above picture is something I hold dear to my heart. These are my cousins and I love them so much. These 4 girls I consider sisters. I grew up with them and treasure all of our memories. My cousin Ashley picture on the far right is a cancer fighter/warrior Angel! She battled this awful disease and did it with such strength. I remember her showing me her "tubies" as well call them now a days and I just couldnt comprehend everything she was going through. You see I was in 7th grade when she was diagnosed and I remember it so clearly. Now that I have had to face this awful disease with my own child I admire This entire family's strength. My Aunt is one of the strongest people I know. What she had to endure is something that no mother should have to go through. What my cousins Ashley's sisters had to go through is something I will never forget about. I love them so much and wish with all my heart that they didnt have to experience such pain and heartache. And my uncle John who still had to work and provide for his family. I cant imagine having to leave your baby girl behind so you can afford to pay for her to get healthy. I love you all so much and I think about Ashley often and I know in my heart that she helped Konner pull through. Her Angel is by his bed and I look at it everytime I walk into his room.

Yup you heard me clearly! It was a long week of scans and nerve wracking as usual! I don't think there will ever be a time when its not. You depend on these machines to let you know if your baby is healthy or not. Yesterday was really surreal. At the beginning of treatment we were told it would be HIGHLY UNLIKELY that Konner would ever be classified NED (No Evidence of Disease). This news crushed us. Of course any parent to a cancer child wants to hear those words. I have told you all countless times how much I wanted to hear those words and how Konner would never reach that.

Yesterday as we walked into the hemoc clinic my nerves built up again. I sat with Konner and his brother Kayben and colored and waited. As soon as Dr. Eshun walked in he said ok Erin I need you to sit down. He also had another Doc with him and I just was like great what happened. I had a million things running through my mind like..How am I going to do this again. I don't want to do this again. etc..... He looked at me and said "Erin, Konner is NED"!!! I was like ok.. and then paused....... He said "Did you hear me right?" I was like no... And he said "Erin, Konner is NED.... He beat cancer!" I began to cry and he said "His tumor looks to be dead. He said there might be microscopic cancer cells in it but its not producing anything and it hasn't grown. Its just dead." I asked what his chances are of his tumor growing again and he said there is a chance but its so small and HIGHLY UNLIKELY! He said Konner put up a good battle and he has won!

That is right......... My son Kicked CANCERS BUTT!!!!

As I sit and read through all the comments on his Facebook and look at all his supporters it brings tears to my eyes. You guys have all be so wonderful, so giving of your faith. You guys are like part of our family. You stood by Konner's side ready to take cancer on with him. Always lending a hand and words of encouragement. I never thought i would be able to say my son is NED! He is a cancer SURVIVOR!!!!
I know my Dad who passed aways in 2004 and my Cousin Ashley and of course our Heavenly Father had so much to do with this. My Cousin Ashley is a cancer warrior as well. She passed away from Leukemia and I know she was one tough cookie. At the beginning of Konner's battle I called my Aunt as she is the only one who could relate to me. She helped me get my fighting gloves on. She offered me the best advice and she was there for me. Thank you Auntie Donna from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

Thank you to ALL THE DOCTORS AND NURSES! Thank you to Dr. Allison Wilcox, for being the best pediatrician and making house calls to come see Konner when I was worried. Thank You for helping me get to the right care!
Thank you to Dr. Harpor Price for taking that extra step in having the initial ultrasound which found Konner's Tumor! Thank you for being so aware!
Thank You to Dr. Adelson for being such a great surgeon and removing part of Konner's tumor! Thank you for helping save his life!
Thank you to Dr. Eshun and Nurse Sharon for always being there for us and for Helping with Konner's treatment!

We thank you ALL For EVERYTHING you have done to help save Konner's life and to help him battle this disease!

Konner still has to have scans and check ups for the next 9 years but he will do it being CANCER FREE!!!

This little cutie goes in for scans next week. I hate this time of the month. I hate scans! I hate having to watch my baby be put to sleep. But most of all I hate not knowing how things are going to turn out!

Konner has been doing so well. He has had a cold but it has not stopped him from being his silly little self. He is such a joy in our family. He is loved by so many and im so glad he is my little guy!

A walk by the river

So yesterday I took Konner and his brothers to the park by the river. They loved it! The weather here is starting to get really cold. It was in the 40's yesterday but eventually warmed up to around 60. Its starting to feel like fall!!!

Its amazing at how much has been lifted off my shoulders now that Konner does not have a port. I dont worry as much as I use to and I let him be the boy he is. He loves wrestling around with his brothers. He loves not going to the Dr. when he gets sick or has a fever! Lets be honest I love it too! On October 12 it will mark Konner's first month of remission! It is such an amazing feeling. Do I get worried about relapse? Of course but I dont let it stop me from being happy and enjoying these moments with my boys!

But before I go there is a boy in need. Our friend Justin is heading to Texas Childrens to get a second opinion and possibly get intense Chemo for his ALL. He really needs lots of prayers and support. He lives here in NM and traveling to Houston is big. Please pray for him and his family! Thank You

No more Ouchie

I say no more Ouchie because thats how we would describe Konner's port to our other kids. They couldnt wait for Konner to not have an ouchie. The downside of not having a port in is now he will have to get an IV for blood draws. But that is ok. The good thing is we don't have to worry about infection and we don't have to make the 100 trips to E.R for high fevers :) There is are many feeling that we are experiencing right now. Excitement, sadness,anxiousness, relief..... just to name a few.

Excitement because we are excited to finally have his port out. to us it signifies the end of treatment.

Sadness because its hard looking back on everything our little guy has had to go through. He has lived with that port for most of his life. It was placed when he was 2 months old and he is now 19 months. Sadness because you can tell he knows he is missing something. Every once in awhile i will find him with his hand over his heart where his port was. He use to always touch it and now it is gone. That has to be hard for a little guy. To not know why it was there in the first place and to not know why we had it taken out.

We are anxious to see what the future holds for our son and for our family. We hope that it is with him staying in remission.

And relief......I'm sure you all know why.... we feel a huge relief. When we started this journey we didn't know what to expect or when we would see the light at the end of the tunnel. But we see it now and it is bright!

Having a baby with Cancer is so hard. They don't understand why they are so sick. You cant help take their ouchie away. All you can do is numb their pain. I wish that Konner understood why he had to go through everything. But i know that when he is old enough to understand, He will look at me and say thanks mom but i dont remember!

Again I can never say enough thank yous to our wonderful supporters and the AMAZING Doctors who helped save my babies life. Thank You A million Times!!!

I will keep Konner's Facebook and blog up. I will update all of his followers with pictures and how he is doing in life. Thank You for being such a huge part of our family and taking this journey with us. It does not stop here.

I have not posted in such a long time. I think its cause I was trying to keep the video below at the top of the page :).. well alot has happened. Good things, overwhelming things, but good things!

So on September 8th Konner had his scans to check on that tumor that they were concerned about. We got the results the following day and everything seemed great! His Neuro-Surgeon released Konner from his care. He said everything looks great and it looks like what they were worried about is old tumor. He said that it did not change characteristics and it did not grow. So with that being said Konner no long has to see the great Dr. Adelson at PCH anymore unless his Oncologists has any concerns in the future!! Yippee right......Right!!

A day later Konner's Oncologist Dr. Eshun called to say that he spoke with Dr. Adelson and they both feel that now is a great time to have Konner's Port taken out!! Woot Woot! We hung up and he called back no later then 5 minutes later to say that Konner is also in remission for REALS this time!! He said that Konner is NOT cancer free but he is in remission because his tumor is not growing and has not grown for a year. So no more port for Konner! I cant wait for him to feel like a kid. He has not gone his almost 2 years of his life without having to get stuck with a needle, take medicine, get put to sleep every 3 months, go to the E.R. for fevers, transfusions etc. Man that's alot for a baby to go through. So on Monday the 19 Konner will once again be put to sleep and will have his port taken out! Prayers for him!

Needless to say this is a big step for us. I have questioned myself at times. Is it ok to leave this tumor in him? Will he stay in remission? What a friend and fellow mommy to a Neuroblastoma fighter said to me was. There have been multiple parents who have decided to leave their kids tumor in and opt to not have surgery and their kids are still fine today. There is a chance that Konner's Tumor may become active again and then basically you are no worse off leaving it alone and watching it now. Does that make sense? Yes Because when we decided to leave the remaining tumor alone because it was attached to nerve endings, our doctors and us thought that was best for Konner. His tumor shrunk 80% with the chemo and he has done really well. I didn't want to risk paralyses or loss of bowel function if this tumor was going to calcify. Will he stay in Remission? I dont know, but no one knows except for our Heavenly Father. All I can do is pray hard and enjoy every minute with my boys. I can be there for Konner and I can do my part in finding a Cure!

We as a family are so BLESSED to have all the prayers, love and constant support from EVERYONE! Konner has touched so many lives, he is famous and he doesn't even know it. I hope that one day they will find a cure for Cancer. I hope that one day they will find Why our babies get Neuroblastomas. Thank you All so much. Thank you for sharing Konner's story with your friends and family. And thank you for Always keep up with my "Little Tough Guy"!

I hope and Pray that one day Konner can look back on everything and in 10 years when his treatment plan is over say "Man that was a rough 10 years but I did it and I beat it like a CHAMP!"

Updates on Our Peanut

Wow its been awhile since I have updated this..... Nothing new has changed with Konner medically. His tumor is still taking on a different shape. Not really sure why but it is. Our focus now is to hope that it doesnt start to grow and it doesnt embed into his spine. He has an appointment coming up on the 21 and then we will see where we go from there. As far as his port being removed they dont want to take that out as much as they wanted to in May. They said they want to leave it in a little longer just in case he will need more Chemo. Ugh... I hate hearing that word.....

As far as Konner growing.. Things have definately changed. He is getting so big, Time sure has flown by. He has 6 teeth, He has the same BIG smile, He has the cutest personality, Loves to play outside, Loves being with his brothers and always wants to do what they do, He loves his puppies Rex & Nala, He Loves when his dad comes home from work, He loves soda, He loves hugs from mommy. He is a special guy in our lives! We surely enjoy having him here with us. We are blessed to have 3 amazing little boys!

So we are still not home. But as of right now we are enjoying ourselves here in AZ. I still have not heard from Konner's doctors on the exact date of his scans. I know he didnt want to wait the full 3 months, instead they wanted to do them again in 6 weeks. As far as his port goes they also want to wait on that now until his next results. Konner has been a happy man lately and is liking the not seeing doctors for a couple of weeks lol. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers.

So on Monday Konner had an appointment with his Neurologist Dr. Adelson. He checked Konner out and was really excited to see him. He also showed me the scans and said he was a little concerned. He said there is an area around Konner's spine that showed a new mass. For the next 2 days we were talking to doctors non stop. They finally sat down and went over the results and looked at past scans and they came to the conclusion that the Neuroblastoma Tumor that is left in Konner has changed shape and has not grown. And that there is no new mass. He said that sometimes these tumors will do that. But just to be sure they want to rescan him again in 6 weeks. This news has given me hope that Konner is still doing good. I was really worried there and I think apart of me still is. When you hear the word relapse your world just shifts. One thing for sure is with Cancer nothing is certain and everything is unpredictable! You never know what can happen in the matter of days. I am so happy to have Konner as my son. This baby has taught me so much and one of them is to NEVER EVER take anything for granted! Happy Wednesday to you all.

Keep those prayers coming!! They work miracles and I know first hand because I look one in the eyes everyday!!!

So We got the results from the scans today. His MIBG scan came back negative. but when they did a MIBG SPEC (blew it up) It showed active cancer cells. He said this sometimes happens and as long as his tumor hasnt grown its ok to keep watching him. They did say they were unable to give me specific growth results because their system compared his current scans to one done in june of 2010. So they would be inaccurate. So he is going to go over everything this weekend and let me know Monday or Tuesday of next week the official results of the tumor. As long as the tumor didnt grow then we are good and will keep scanning him every 3 months. If the tumor did grow then we will have to do more chemo. So now that we know that the tumor does have active cancer please pray that it has NOT GROWN! Please Please send prayers his way!!!

Yesterday Konner had his x-rays and his Injection for his MIBG Scan. Everything went ok, He moved around a bit so we kept having to retake them. The techs did notice something in the images but were unsure if it was gas build up or something else. They did leave for a minute to contact a radiologist to have them read the images. They were not able to tell me what was said but did say they needed to take more images.

Today June 9, Konner was put to sleep for his MRI & MIBG scans. He is still back there and they said that the scans will take about 4-5 hours. I do not have access to the internet at RMH (Ronald Mcdonald House) But I will update you as soon as possible. We will get the results to everything tomorrow Friday June 10 @ 3 pm. I will update you with those results ASAP!

Extra Prayers tonight that it was nothing major that was seen in those x-rays. Thank you all for your continued support!

Today I am asking for prayers and lots of them. Konner goes in for scans tomorrow and thursday. We will get those results Friday. Please send prayers his way for great results!

Also if you can send extra prayers to the families in AZ who are being evacuated because of this aweful fire burning here. Myself and Konner's Dad are from towns in the white mountain communities in AZ. Please pray for the safety of the firefighters and all for all the people having to leave their homes.

12 Month post treatment

So konner has made it to his 12 month post treatment check up without any complications!!! Next week Konner will have LOTS of appointments. He has to see his neurosurgeon, x-rays, MIBG injection, MRI, CT, MIBG Scan, CBC, Urine test. He does have to be put to sleep for the majority of these tests but he has done really well so far. Its crazy to think that he has come this far and is truely fighting like a champ! He is such a strong little man and such an inspiration. I cant believe that he has gone through so much in his short little life. No baby should have to start fighting cancer at just 55 days old. When we received his treatment plan we were in shock. when we thought treament we thought of maybe 2 years. But we were floored when we found out he would have to be watch very closely for 10 years! Can you believe that 10 YEARS!!!! So we are down 1 and have 9 more to go! Konner still has not been able to get vaccines because he has not yet been given the go ahead. I hope that comes soon. Last winter did not treat him too well.

As I sit here I cant help but be thankful. In just 2 days 2 children who's blogs I follow have passed away from Neuroblastoma. I am thankful my little man is doing good. I dont know where I would be without him. He completes our family and completes my heart and my soul! He is brother who is loved upon daily and a son who is cherished daily. He is a grandson who is spoiled and a cousin who is played with. He is a gift from heavenly father and one who I will never take for granted. Back when Konner was diagnosed I knew that before him I took life for granted. I didnt know it before then but after it makes you realize so much. I NEVER thought I would take anything for granted because we have been through so much as a family. 2 deployments to Iraq, 2 miscarriages, 1 loss of a baby (born at 21 wks), The loss of my dad. I just didnt want to take life for granted. Yet I did at times. Konner has brought so much to our family. I try to live everyday knowing that I have an amazing family and we have definitely been through our share of struggles. But in the end we all have each other and we have our faith. I believe that Konner will grow up to be a strong, smart and handsome young man. I know that he will beat this cancer!

Konner is Officially walking. I am so proud of him and his accomplishment. He literally just started this weekend. Walking everywhere! This is big for us. Originally they thought he made need therapy. But he has proved them wrong once again. Cancer is not winning this battle. Konner is kicking Cancer's butt. He is a happy baby and is doing so well lately. He loves his brothers and our new dog Nala. He tries to lay in her bed with her all the time. He likes to play with his dad's PS3 controller and takes it away at times. He also like to press the buttons on our computers (this seems to be his favorite). We are so thankful for Konner and what he has brought to our family. He is just a happy baby and it brings faith to my life. He has been through alot but he does not let it affect him. Yesterday I heard about the passing of Jenna Miller. Back in October of last year the Miller family introduced themselves to me at Konner's dinner benefit. They were such a nice family and they shared their story with me about their little girl named Jenna. Jenna was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma and was putting up a strong fight. They were so positive and things were going good for her. I could feel the faith and strength these people had. They gave me so much confidence that Konner can beat this cancer. In january of this year Jenna took a turn for the worse and they learned that she had relapsed with a brain tumor, which is a common relapse area for Neuroblastoma. Once you relapse with Neuroblastoma there is NO KNOWN CURE!!! Jenna had been having good and bad days and unfortunately she is now an Angel. She did not lose her battle with cancer. Her body did. Jenna was a warrior and never let this cancer take her down. She went out with grace and love and with her parents beside her. She is inspiration to me and my family. This breaks my heart. I cant believe that there is no known cure after relapse for this childhood cancer. Something needs to be done! Our Children are losing their lives! They are not getting a chance to grow up and be adults, get married, have kids, experience what we all get to have. They are instead in the hospital getting poisoned with medicine in order to cure their cancer. I am saddened that I have yet again been impacted by another loss. I can not imagine what those families are feeling. Today I am grateful to have my Konner doing good. He has had his time dealing with this cancer devil and today because of the great doctors at Phoenix Children's Hospital he has a chance at having a normal childhood. I just will continue to pray and have faith and hope that he never relapse's once he is NED. I pray for the day that the doctor classifies Konner as NED. That day will be a holiday for the rest of our lives. Because that day is the day Konner will beat his cancer.

So today was our last day at UNM and I am happy to say Thank you but Here we Come PCH and We are so Happy about this move and change in Konner's treatment!!

Konner's scan results came back good. So I think... The doctor said everything looks good may be a little smaller... Um ok I will take your Maybe and head to PCH for better care. All I can say is that Konner seems to be heading in the right direction. He is a happy 1 year old and is getting healthier and is fighting his way to being Cancer free!

Sorry these next pictures are sideways. Blogger has been frustrating me lately. There is no way to fix them. For some reason every other time I try to upload pictures this is what happens. So please be patient and sorry for the mess up.

Konner is 13 months old and is such an active boy. He has recently found all the fun things behind the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen. Fun for him but not so much for me. lol Along with turning 1 Konner also got his first haircut. He looks so much older now and I kinda miss his Justin Beiber hair. He is a fun energetic baby. He loves his brothers so very much. He also loves when his daddy walks into the room. His whole face lights up and he reaches out for him while saying daddy in the sweetest voice. Now he loves me too! He hates when I leave the room and always needs me to cuddle him to sleep. He is our baby and he is growing up way to fast! Here are some pictures from the past month.

As I sit here right now I cant help but thinking about our week ahead. These times are always nerve wrecking and so is the week after. You never know what kind of news your going to get. I cant believe this is Konner's 4th set of scans Post treatment. I wouldn't even be able to tell you how many he had during treatment. It was just that much. Every time he has to be put to sleep and that alone is scary. Its so heartbreaking holding your 1 year old while he is being put to sleep for something. But Konner is a champ! This week is more evasive than the 2 previous scans. He will have the MIBG test. and I am glad they are finally doing one.

I also cant help but think about infant hospital gowns. Well Konner just barely fits into them. they are pretty big. When Konner was actually in the hospital he had to be in only a diaper because they didnt even come close to fitting him. He would also get so cold. So i went to target one day and got him those baby gowns. Well I need to make him some of his own since he will be having scans done for the next 10 years. Of course I will make him them only till he is about 5 or so. But if any of you happen to know a place that makes small hospital gowns let me know.

I also wanted to thank you all for following Konner's story and for your constant prayers. Prayers work miracles and I know that Konner is one. Thank You.

Scans are scheduled.

So Konner has his scans scheduled for March 16 & 17. On March 16 he has to go to Nuclear Medicine and receive a special injection for his MIBG test. This injection is so special that they have to order it and once they open it they must inject it right away and the scan for it has to be done 14 hours after. You can find out more info here MIBG scan . So On the 17 Konner will go in at 7:30 to check in and then will start his MRI scans at 8:30. He will be put to sleep the whole time and at 11:30 they will do the MIBG scan. Konner will be put to sleep for approximately 4-5 hours. The MIBG test will see how many Neuroblastoma cells he has. With this very important test we will be able to see how much of his tumor is active and if there are any calcified spots on it. All prayers will be needed that day! And the end result! He had such a great birthday with family and close friends. He was a bit crabby but as soon as that sugar hit he was happy as can be lol. Konner has hit a milestone and a very important one to us. We love everything about him. We are honored to have him be apart of our family. We are grateful for all that he has taught us.

Today is Konner's 1st Birthday. I can not believe it is already here. I promised myself I would cherish every moment with him and I think I have done just that. He is such a sweet baby. Always loving and smiling every second of the day. Of course there are a couple of days here and there where he cries and is not feeling 100% but im sure that is usual for a baby with cancer. He is so uplifting. Given Konner's situation he brings strength to me constantly. I see this baby getting poked and prodded and yeah he cries sometimes but sometimes he is so strong and will just make a frown and thats it. No baby or child should have to go through what Konner has gone through. But he has gone through it like a champ! He continues to amaze me. There is nothing I wouldn't give to have him be here with us. We feel so blessed to have him be apart of our family. We love him with all our hearts!

Konner thank you for being a great little brother and an amazing son. Thank you for bringing more faith and hope and strength into our lives. And thank you for showing us the true definition of love. We love you!

So Lost

So here I am again today with another rant with the medical care my son is getting. Today I had to call his Dr's to find out the results of his tests from the 21st. They said that everything was good. His VMA was 15 and his HVA was 25.But they said his ANC level was 800. Which is low but not low enough to get a transfusion. If he reaches 500 he is at risk for infections and getting really sick. I am so upset right now that I cant stop crying. It feels like they don't care. So ok his ANC is 800 you know that now so whats making him sick. They were suppose to run other tests to see if he has a virus or flu. And they didn't run that because his dr. forgot to order them. Seriously how do you forget this. and they waited over a week to tell us that Konner had a low ANC level. Shouldn't they have told us ASAP so we could watch him and make sure that he doesn't get a fever. We have other kids and one who is in school and plays basketball. I take Konner with me to pick him up and take him with me to take him to basketball practice and to games. It would have been nice to know that I should have been keeping him inside. I am sorry for this rant but I just want better care for Konner. My husband and I have been thinking alot about Konner's care. Therefore we put in for some jobs in Oregon and if that doesn't work out then I will be transferring Konner's medical care back to Phoenix Children's Hospital. I know we are making the right decision we have really though about this alot and know that this is the right thing to do for our family.

Its Almost Birthday TIME!!!

So Its Almost Konner's Birthday I cant believe that he is almost 1. When i Had Konner his dad was currently serving in the war in Iraq, he had been there for 10 months. Konner was loved by so many before he entered this world. Konner has 2 older brother who adore him and love to play with him. Shortly after Konner's Dad got home from Iraq on April 1st 2010. Konner met his dad for the first time and 4 short days later we learned that Konner might have a tumor. On April 9th our world came to a stop as we were told that Konner had cancer. When you hear that word your world turns upside down. I could not think of anything positive, all that came across my mind was Konner being taken away from us. This was especially hard for us because we have experienced 2 miscarriages and 1 still born baby named Kade. We were all too familiar with loss and did not want to go down that road again. We had no clue what we were in for. All the days that followed were bad and good. And that brings us to where we are now. We have a STRONG little man, Who kept a smile on his face and charmed the world with it. He is precious, strong, a fighter, loving, emotional and bright. We love him so much and are so blessed to have him in our family. We are happy to celebrate his life!

Things to think about..

So Konner had his monthly check up for January on Friday the 21. He had been feeling a little sick during the week. He was running fevers off and on all week. On Monday I had called the on call Oncologist and he didn't seem worried about it. He said that although Konner had a port in he is past 6 months post chemo. So he said for me to give Konner Tylenol and that was that. I was and still am really bothered by this. Yes Konner is 8 months post chemo and has been doing pretty good. BUT.......... He still has a port in and no matter what if he starts to run a fever I am suppose to take him to the E.R. so they can give him antibiotics in case he has an infection in his port. This can happen at anytime, He does not have to be on chemo in order to get an infection.

So he had his check up on Friday and all was good until his doctor informed me that they missed 5 TESTS!!! that Konner needed to have done at 6 months post chemo! This infuriated me! one of them being the MIBG test that I had kept asking them if they were going to do one! They kept telling me no he didn't need them! She also asked if I took Konner to the E.R. to receive antibiotics for his fever. I told her what happened and she was mad. So they had to give Konner Antibiotics through his port and also do a CBC and then they told us to go down to X-Ray and get spinal x-rays! That is one of the tests they forgot to do. They also did 2 of the other tests that they were suppose to do which including taking blood samples. The other thing they forgot to do was refer us to a Neurologist since Konner had the tumor in his spine. He had to have a check up. I am pretty irate at this time. They forgot to do simple things. All they had to do was look at his plan. I understand that UNM sees all childhood cancer patients in the state of NM but My son is important to me and if he is not getting the BEST possible care he can get then things need to change. Maybe they have too much to handle I don't know. But they should have gone by his treatment plan. He is on a study and can get kicked off the study if they do not follow the plan! I have not gotten his urine results back nor the results from the CBC. But as soon as i do I will let you all know.

Sorry for my rant. I'm just frustrated and worried. My husband and I have alot to think about for Konner's care. He is one of the 3 kids that are important to us. We love our kids and would do anything for them. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers!

So the 2011 Phoenix cure search walk is on Feb. 26 2011. I have wanted to do a walk in Konner's name and I think this may be the perfect time. I have lots to talk about with my husband and see if this may be too much for us to organize at this time. Alot goes into making a team. You have to find participants and also find donations. I hope I can do this. It would be a great accomplishment! and A good way to help childhood cancer research!

Sooo sick...

So guess who spent all night in the E.R. on monday night?! If you guessed Konner you are right. He got really sick on monday evening. Throwing up 4-5 times in 2 hours. And I mean like exorcist throwing up. It broke my heart. He became really lethargic and didnt want to eat or drink anything. So I spoke to his oncologist and she advised me to take him to our local E.R. As soon as we got there Konner got the VIP treatment lol. They were able to access his port and give him some fluids and some Zofran. as soon as he got that Zofran he was feeling a million times better! He got there asleep and not wanting to deal with anyone. He left there best friends with everyone and just smiling. Yesterday he was doing a little better bet slept alot so that was good. And today you can tell his tummy is still bothering him a little. But he manages to keep that adorable smile on his face!

So we just got home safely from Konners appointment today. We received the results from his MRI that was done last week on 12-9-2010. All and All they are good. Still no progression from the tumor which is great news. Although Konner is considered in remission due to the tumor not growing or progressing he is still NOT classified NED (No Evidence of Disease). His tumor still has active spots of cancer but also has spots that they think might be calcification spots. The doctor did mention that his left leg may not be as strong as his right. When he performed the reflex test on Konner's lefs his left leg didnt respond well. So they said that they will watch that as well. Because of the surgeries Konner has had and him being so small its hard to tell if any nerves were damaged. Which brings me to my next thing. Remember when I was worried because Konner would scream inconsolably. Konner still at times will do that. and does not sleep through the night yet. So he said there may be some nerves that were damaged that they dont know about. and sometimes when you have nerve damage it can be painful. So they are going to watch that as well. For now he gave some things to try and do until Konner's next appointment and we will see if they work. But for now its almost Christmas time and I am so thankful to have this little peanut in my life. Konner is still a happy baby. He is now 10 months!! and I am also thankful for all of you and your prayers and the strength and support you give us! Thank You and Merry Christmas!!

MRI scans 12/9/2010

So today we woke up at 5 and got ready because Konner had to be at UNM hospital by 6:45. He had his MRI scans at 7:45. He was such a champ all morning. Smiling and playing with everyone. He even got a toy! He is such a doll and everyone just LOVED his eyes! They took us back to the MRI at 8 and I held him while they put him to sleep. They then took the images they needed and he was in recovery 3 hours later. Everything went really well they said. We will be back at UNM next week to receive the results! Prayers for good results! Today We are asking for special prayers for the Thode Family. Sgt. James Thode gave his life fighting the war in Afghanistan this week. Sgt. Thode worked with Konner's Dad in the Police department. I have heard nothing but amazing things about him. The entire Community is deeply saddened by this loss. Please take a minute out of your day and pray for Sgt. Thode's family. He leaves behind a wife and 2 kids. Please pray that they will be comforted and have the strength during this difficult time. So we are here today at UNM getting Konner's labs done and his monthly Pentamidine treatment. We also had to schedule his scans in december. I today got the BEST news I have heard in awhile.

KONNER IS IN REMISSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The doctor was talking to me about how we are going to take out his port in january sometime. And I had a question on my mind that has been bothering me. "Why did you guys stop doing the MIBG test?" And he said well we dont have it scheduled because Konner's cancer is in remission! Honestly I just wanted to break down and cry. Hearing those words were sweet joy and I have longed to hear them. He said that Konner's urine results showed no activity and were in normal range. And after his last scans things look great. they said his tumor is not active and looks like it is just dead. It has no calcified but they said that will take awhile.

So now what do we do?
We get Konner's next set of scans in December and if everything goes well then he will get his port out in January. He will still have monthly check ups for the next year and a half and scans every 3 months. then after 2 years of remission he will have scans every 6 months and check ups every 3 months until 5 years and then after 5 years he will have scans and check ups every year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Questions

So I have heard that alot of people have some questions about how Konner is doing.

Does he still have cancer? Yes, He is not in remission yet. His cancer is still active, it just has not spread. Right now his tumor has just stayed at a stand still since chemo! YA!

Does Konner have pain? I dont know. Right now he doesnt talk to its the hardest thing to guess whats going on with him. He seems to be in pain at times but for the most part he is a happy 9 month old baby.

Is Konner able to have a home nurse? As of right now no. He has to get a special kind of medicine every month to keep his immune system up and so he does not catch PCP (Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia). If Konner were to catch this type of Pneumonia it could be deadly. So he has to get Pentamidine. December will be his last month and then we can talk about getting a home health nurse.

I think that is what the most of the question have been towards. Hope that helps. Thank you again for all your prayers and support.

So Tomorrow Konner and I have to travel by ourselves to ABQ. Kyle has to work on friday for some training. So he will keep our 2 older boys and I will take Konner to his check up. This will be our first time without Kyle and im a little nervous. Just because its nice to have your husband there with you for company. Konner's appointments take 3-5 hours. And thats not even for scans. When we are there for scans it takes a whole day.

Everytime we get ready to travel for his check ups its sooo nerve racking. Its so hard not thinking about the what if's. On his scan days its even worse. Though Konner is NOT in remission yet, his cancer can still spread and I am so beyond thankful that it has not. I just continue to pray that it wont. My ears long to hear the words No Evidence of Disease! That will be one of the happiest days of my life!

This family is one Amazing group! They hold a memorial roping and this year they picked Konner as the beneficiary. It took place on Sat. October 16, 2010. We had such a great time getting to meet everyone and watching all the cowboys do what they do best! All of our kids had so much fun and I think the highlight for them was actually riding a horse. Konner was smiling the entire time except when it was nap time. We can never thank you guys enough for the generosity that you have shown us. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts. I cant wait for Konner to grow up and learn about how much everyone helped us out when we needed it. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts.

So I have been feeling blah lately.. I cant seem to get Konner's sickness off my mind. I stare at this happy little baby that is mine and I just cant help but think about him being sick. I dont think it ever goes away. I try so hard to put everything at the back of my head and just try to focus on him getting better. But I still look at him and wish that I can just take his sickness away. Babies aren't suppose to get this sick. They aren't suppose to have to fight this awful battle. What gets me is Konner was born with this type of cancer. He had a tumor when he was born. I dont know how big it was then, but it couldnt have been that big. I do have alot to be thankful for and thats what I hang on to. I still have Konner to hold everyday. I still can hear him cry and try my best to comfort him when he is in pain. I know there are others out there who dont have that and for that im grateful. I just wish I had a wish!

So We got Konner's lab results back and his counts were higher then the previous months! We are still waiting to hear on his Urine results and should hopefully hear back by today! It has been a while since I posted last but not much has gone on. Konner is doing great currently. We finally got him on some meds to help him go to the bathroom. He has been having trouble going to the bathroom for almost 2 MONTHS! So things are getting better there. He is also starting to crawl on his knees!!! This is absolutely great news to us! It means that his brain is able to send signal to his legs and his legs are responding! in September he went in for his check up and they said that he may need therapy to help him walk and such. But now if you holding him up he is able to take little steps... of course that is with me holding him. But before he was not able to do this. He is eating more and is still the happy smiley baby we all know and love!! Now im just trying to think of what he may want to be for Halloween..... Any Ideas??? Im think monkey!!! Happy Holidays ya'll!!

So as most of you know Konner has a facebook page! Today I am in a very good mood! Konner slept so well last night and infact is still sleeping. This happens NEVER!!! Poor baby can never sleep good. So because I got a goodnights rest and have lots of energy this morning I want to give something back! Konner has 230 friends on facebook. I update this facebook almost daily on how konner is doing and add pictures and events going on for Konner and kids cancer! So if we can raise awareness even if its just a little I will be happy. October Check up

So last week Konner had his check up for the month of October. this time went really well and very smooth! We were there for a totally of 4 1/2 hours! He got his Pentamidine without any problems and slept the whole time through that. He also became a St. Baldricks honoree well we were there. The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. They are the people that put on head shaving events and raise money. I have heard of them and I am glad that Konner was able to be apart of it. Hey maybe someday we can hold an event in the name of Konner! Konner's blood results were great, Higher then last months! We have yet to get his urine results, but I have a good feeling about that as well. As soon as I find the pictures and video that the people from St. Baldricks took i will gladly share with you all!

Konners 2nd set of scan results are in. They were taken last week on 9/14/2010. I got a call yesterday while grocery shopping. Let me just tell you.. As soon as she said hi Erin this is Dr. Butros my heart started racing... Lucky her next words were... Konner's scans look GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOO They look GREAT!!!!!! she said that his tumor measures about the same as it did for his previous scans. This is sweet music to my ears. I know his tumor is not going away and I know that it is still there. but it has NOT spread nor has it grown. That puts my fears at ease at least for another 2 months when he gets his next scans. Now Konner still has active cancer because his tumor has NOT calcified.

Let me just tell you how APPRECIATIVE I am right now. I have the BEST FAMILY AND FRIENDS! I have a wonderful support system. I have my baby boy still.... I am so thankful for this gift that heavenly father has given me. I am thankful that Konner has come into my life, He has showed me a the meaning in life. This baby brings smile upon smile to my face daily. I am SO VERY thankful for all of you and for all of the support and uplifting messages for Konner that you send. We are thankful that there are so many people willing to help us in any way possible. I think of when we were first told about Konner and were given his diagnoses.. that day and the feelings I had bring tears to my eyes. When you are told that your baby has CANCER you automatically think of death. I dont care who you are but if you are told that, thats what you think of. Then once you are get all the results from test upon test you tend to switch your way of thinking. I remember holding my baby just memorizing every feature of him. Just being with him and staring into his eyes. I remember staying in the hospital with him and never wanting to leave his side. Everything that Konner has had to go through in his short 7 months in life is something that most adults dont have to experience in there whole life. This baby is a fighter! This baby WILL KICK CANCER IN THE BUTT!!!!

So here is the long awaited post of pictures!! The FOP in Farmington held a benefit dinner for Konner. It was a GREAT success! It went off with no problems that I know of lol. And we got to meet some pretty special kiddos and some Awesome Parents. Thank You to all who attended and also a thank you to All those who came up to me to tell me your story and introduce me to your BRAVE Warriors who are also fighting this monster called Cancer! You guys are so special and I am so glad that I got to meet you! Also a BIG Thank you to Sgt. Cordell, Sgt. Scott, officer Snowbarger of the Farmington P.D & to Sgt. Webb of the SJ Sheriffs Office. Thank You for Organizing this benefit for Konner and our family. Thank a Million Times! A VERY LONG day of scans....

So today Konner went to the hospital at 6 am. We got there and they got him admitted for his scans. He went in for his scans at 8. Let me tell you how hard it is to hold your baby in your arms while they put him to sleep. ITS HARD! Everything went GREAT and was uneventful with his scans. We will get the results back within 2 wks. After his scans Konner went back up to clinic to meet with his dr and then off we were to the infusion rooms. We got up there and they drew Konner's blood and then took his urine to be tested. things were great until they hooked him up to his Pentamidine line. Thats when a long day got even LONGER!!! The nurse noticed that the area around is port was starting to swell. So the other nurse came in and we were told they were calling the dr. and were going to stop his meds. They said that his port might have a leak in it or the line could have detached somehow. They said thats rare but it happens. and Hey Neuroblastoma is rare right?! Right..... So the dr. came up and said they were sending us to get x-rays with dye. So off we were to the radiologists. Needless to say a scare and 3 hours later the results came back and Konner's Port looked GREAT! They said that it could have been a freak thing that happened. So we went back up to infusion and started his meds again and everything went fine.

What do you know. Something things just happen! All in all it was a LONG day but very well worth every minute of it. I will be updating you as soon as we get the results!

So we have arrived to our hotel for the night. We took Konner to the clinic earlier to get his port accessed for tomorrow's scans. He has to be at pre-op tomorrow morning at 6:45. He will then undergo general anesthesia for his scans. After his scans he will then go up to clinic and receive his monthly treatment of Pentamidine and have a urine test done as well.

I will make sure to update you all tomorrow when we arrive back at our hotel. Please pray for a good outcome on these tests. Thank you all for following Konner's journey and for all of your prayers and constant support!

You check in at 9 am for the bike ride and then kickstands are up by 11. The bike ride includes dinner and 2 raffle tickets! that is $20 for the bike ride. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

Hey Everyone,

So we have entered into the month of September. I had no clue until Konner was diagnosed that there was an awareness month just for Children with Cancer. This is a special month for me not only because my son has cancer and not only cause I have a cousin who is now an Angel in heaven because of this awful disease. No matter what type of cancer it is, no matter if your an adult or a child. Cancer is an awful thing to have. Everyone hears it the same and it sounds just as ugly as it is! I am so blessed to have an awareness month. I would like to RAISE as much awareness as possible! So I have added a picture of my little konner to an already created awareness logo! If you would like to raise awareness feel free to keep this for yourself as a reminder. Lets raise awareness together!

Below are some Childhood Cancer statistics!

Each year in the U.S. there are approximately 12,400 children between the ages of birth and 19 years of age who are diagnosed with cancer. About one in 300 boys and one in 333 girls will develop cancer before their 20^th birthday. In 1998, about 2500 died of cancer, thus making cancer the most common cause of death by disease for children and adolescents in America.

Today, the overall 5 year survival rate for childhood cancer is close to 80%. Because treatment cure rates have increased, the population of childhood cancer survivors has also increased. Currently there are estimated to be 270,000 survivors of childhood cancer in the U.S. This equates to one in 640 young adults between the ages of 20 to 39 being a survivor of a childhood malignancy.

Today 46 Children will be told them have cancer
1 out of 5 of them will not survive
1 in 330 children will be diagnosed with cancer, they average age of those is 6
Cancer is the NUMBER 1 disease killer of our children.

Hey everyone Konner just got back from his regular pediatrician. He had to get established there. His Dr. use to be an oncologist and knows LOTS about Konner's type of cancer. She also found some lumps in the back of Konner's neck. So please keep him in your prayers and pray that they turn out to be cysts!

She also said that he made need Physical Therapy, because of the way he plants his feet. He may be unaware that he has feet because of how the tumor was pushing on his lower spine. So we will wait till he is 9 months and if he is still army crawling and his stance is the same they will have him under go physiotherapy.

Although our baby is a strong lil guy he still has a long way to go in recovery. Please Keep him in your prayers! Luv to All

8/19/2010 Check up

So Konner had his monthly check up today. He had his blood drawn and his urine checked. He also had to get his monthly dose of Pentamidine. While we were there for 5 hours we got his blood test results and everything looked good. His white blood count was down a little but was still in the good range. We will get the results back from his urine next week. So Konner is doing good so far. He goes in for his scans on September 14 and that is our next appointment and monthly urine check as well! Thank you all for following Konner's journey and for ALL your prayers and continued support, it is GREATLY appreciated!

I am so sorry to all who read Konner's blog daily and have gotten NOTHING in the past month, Maybe even longer. We have been super busy moving and had no internet.

Konner is doing good and has been such and amazing baby during the move. We were able to go to his new clinic and it was a new experience. They are great there as well but I must say I MISS PCH!!!!!!!!!!! I think Konner would agree with me lol. Konner has been in pain lately and im not sure why. He has an appointment this Thursday to get another dose of Pentamidine and to check his urine and his blood. I hope we can figure out what is bothering him. He is growing so much and is showing his true personality. He is a HAPPY baby boy still and will make everyone smile. He also has scans coming up sep. 14th.

Again sorry for not posting sooner. I will make sure to get caught up!!

So here are some recent pictures of Konner. We are sitting here today in our hotel room waiting for tomorrows appointment. Konner will go to his new clinic tomorrow at the University of New Mexico. We are excited and nervous at the same time. Tomorrow Konner will have his monthly urine test and also another blood test to check his ANC Levels. We hope they are climbing and not still dropping. Please pray for Konner. I will post and update as soon as we can. Konner has also turned 5 months old. He is a happy baby and absolutely loves his brothers. His hair has also started to grow back!!! Also our house is done so we will close as soon as we get back home. Then we will have internet up and running a couple of days after and I can keep up with weekly updates!

Sorry I have not posted pictures or updates on The Run for Konner's Fight and Konner's benefit Concert. I am still waiting to receive the pictures for both and the winners and such from the concert!

An update on Konner

So Today Konner had an appointment at the clinic. He had to receive his IV treatment of Pentamidine. He also got a blood count done and his counts were great except for his ANC levels. They were a little concerned because it has been awhile since his last chemo treatment and his counts should be somewhat normal by now. Well they just keep dropping for some reason. They gave us 3 possible reasons.
1.) It could be from the Bactrim the medicine they took him off of. This is the least likely reason because he has been off of bactrim from about 6 weeks now.
2.) It could be that he has an infection. So they tested his bowel to see if they can find anything wrong.
3.) It could mean that the cancer has spread to his bone marrow thus making it hard for his Neutrophils count to go up.
So we are scheduling him an Appointment at his new clinic University of New Mexico pediatric cancer center next week. There they will do another blood test to check his counts to see if it has changed. If it went down more then they will do more Bone Marrow aspirations. They will also do his monthly urine test.

Please continue to pray for Konner as his battle is definitely not over yet!

Today was also Konner's last Dr's appointment at the Phoenix Children's Hospital Oncology Clinic. It was a bittersweet see you later. I say see you later because that is the honest truth. These people have been so amazing to our family and most of all to Konner. If you could see the smiles that Konner brings to peoples faces it would melt your heart. They have become part of our family there. They have known Konner since he turned 2 months and he is now 5 months. I know that is not a long time but Konner has definitely endured alot in his short 5 months. PCH will always be apart of our family. Right now I would like to thank you All for helping make Konner feel so comfortable and helping him through this process. You will be missed and never forgotten.

Also thank you to Dr. Wilcock for always bringing your A-Game to work and for sending Konner to Dr. Price who then also brought her A-Game to work. If it weren't for you ladies Konner would not be where he is today. So THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! You are also so very special to us and I look forward to future visits!

Hello Everyone. I just wanted to share a little bit of into with you all. There was recently an interview posted about Konner and his benefit concert. Some of that info that was given was incorrect. I know how it can be to easily mix information up and be nervous and say the wrong things. So there were a couple of mistakes but I would like to fix the 2 major ones.

1st konner did NOT have a brain tumor. He had a tumor in his abdomen next to his kidney that spread to his spine. He did have surgery to remove the tumor. but only the part on his spine was successfully removed. The one in his abdomen was not removed due to it being connected to nerve endings.

2nd we DO have insurance. The army has been AMAZING with helping and covering all of Konner's medical cost up until now. We are now off army insurance due to my husband being Honorably released from the Army. He has since moved and started working and they have also been great to let Konner on insurance and not call it pre-existing condition. So we do have insurance but we will still have to pay for treatment. the cost for just body scans every 3 months is around 18,000 before insurance. I should not need to explain myself or share personal info about our bills. But this seems to keep coming up. Because people keep thinking that we have no insurance and that the Army was not treating us Fairly. So The Army has been amazing!! Has helped with EVERYTHING.

Those were the 2 major corrections I wanted to make. I am sure everyone had good intentions and things can get mixed so easily with everything that has been going on. My family and I are so GRATEFUL for all the help everyone has given to Konner and our family! Thank you for all your support cause we seriously could not have made it with through with out all the positiveness. If that is even a word lol. Again we thank You for your understanding.

So it has been awhile since my last update on Konner. He is currently doing ok. We spent all last night and early morning in the E.R. due to another allergic reaction to something. He also has alot of scratches on his head and ears from the itching that they were concerned about. They dont want him to get an infection because his ANC levels are low. So they have him on Augmenton (sp). He also had developed a hole in his ear drum due to a silent ear infection that popped. So right now he will take this antibiotic for 10 days and then have another check up. Other that then he is doing good. Happy most of the time. Konner has done great so far given his situation. We are thankful for the way everything has worked out. He has been given the best of the worst situation. I am thankful for everyday I have with him!

Decisions, choices, decision....................................

So Kyle and I have made our decision about Konner and his treatment. To us this is the right choice and we know that Heavenly Father has us pointed in the right direction. So we have decided to leave the Tumor in Konner. At times I think to myself how can I come to this conclusion. How can I leave Cancer inside my baby, The thing that made him so sick in the first place. Well here is our reason...... Konners tumor shrunk 80%. That is what the doctors were hoping for. When you look at the image scans it really seems unreal. All of Konners Doctors have said the same thing about his tumor and I know they have his best at heart. Chemo stays in your body for up to 3 months after treatment. So that could shrink his tumor more. They also said that these tumors have a tendency to grow a layer of calcium over them which will make them become inactive. Yes his tumor will more than likely have to stay in him for the rest of his life. But it will be a dead tumor and will not bother him. I asked the question..."What is the likely hood of it spreading or returning if we leave it in him?"And the Doctors response to that was...

"Konner has a 10-20% chance of the cancer spreading or returning in a different area. But he also has that exact same chance if we were to take it out. Cancer has microscopic cells which you can not see. So even if you think you took it all out there might be some left over which could grow another tumor some place else in his body or spread."

Right now we have made the decision to watch it and have urine tests done every month and scans every 3 months for the 1st year. Then for the next 2 years do urine tests every 2 months with scans every 3-6 months. If something changes or his urine spikes then we know something is wrong and he will go through all tests again. And possibly start chemo again depending on the cause of the problem. We don't want to do another round of chemo cause although it shrunk the tumor it is also poisoning our baby. We also don't want his type of cancer to become immune to the chemo cause then that can make it more aggressive. This is the best thing for Konner.

Our other option would have been to remove the tumor (which is still deeply embedded into a nerve) and see how he does. This option though sounds better at first has its setbacks. If we cut that nerve it could cause him to loose function of his bowels, or urinary tract or possibly cause him to be paralyzed. All 3 of those don't sound ideal. and he would still have the 10-20% chance of the cancer returning. He would still have to have all the check ups and possibly more.

It has taken me awhile to write to you about this. I feel that our choice is right but at times struggle with the fact about leaving it alone. I know that he will be closely watched and if Kyle and I feel like anything is wrong we can ask for tests and they will do them. I know that Heavenly Father will watch over Konner. Konner has a lot of Angels in heaven watching over him. His brother Kade, 2 other angel baby brothers, my Dad, my cousin Ashley. So that is our choice and decision.

Today Konner had an appointment to get his results from his scans. We started of with the usually access of the port. He got his blood drawn and it was sent to the lab. Within 10 minutes his nurse comes back and says he needs to have a blood transfusion cause his hemoglobin was at 8.8 not very good at all. So while we got that news we were waiting for the even bigger news. Before we went into the transfusion rooms Dr. Eshun came in to gave us the news. Konner's Tumor has shrunk 80%. So with that being said the chemo worked!!! He will not have to go through anymore Chemo as of now. He still has some chemo in his system so that could maybe shrink the tumor more and they are hoping that it will calcify. So we are going to talk with the general surgeon and see if it is possible to remove the tumor without damaging the nerve. Our options are to remove the tumor which could possibly damage the nerve and could cause him to be paralyzed or have an affect on his bowel. Or we can leave the tumor in and watch it carefully and see if it calcifies. Either way he has 10-20% chance of it returning. his Dr. said that he has a great outlook. So right now we are in the decision making part of the process.

Konner now only has to continue taking Bactrim and can stop all other meds. If we decide to leave the tumor alone then Konner will go into the process of going to the clinic for monthly urine checks and every 3 months doing MRI, CT and MIBG scans. for the next year and then the next 2 years he will go every 2 months and then annually. Hopefully soon we can give you the news of Konner being classified as NED (No Evidence of Disease).

He has passed away today and my heart hurts for this family. This little boy was as old as little Konner. I know he is in a better place and he is no longer in any pain. Please pray that his family is comforted during this time.

So yesterday Konner went in for his CT, MRI and MIBG scans. They were successful and he was already waking up when we got into the room. They said he did great and everyone just loved seeing him. Its crazy when you walk into a nuc Med room (nuclear medicine) and everyone in there gets the biggest smile and says Oh Mr. Konner we missed you. Konner has definitely brought lot of smile to peoples faces. He is such a cute little man and is so happy. We find out Monday the results of all his scans so wish him luck. And please pray for good results.

Almost that time again...

So its almost time for Konner to go in for his scans. I am excited yet very nervous! All the Dr's say he has a really good chance of his tumor shrinking and I am just hoping and praying. Lately Konner has been so sick. He is teething, has bad allergies, and the effects from chemo are all wearing on him. Its so sad to see him in pain and uncomfortable all the time. Today Kyle and I got to get away to stroll the mall and we went into the pet store. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing those little puppies. I want to get one sooo bad. I just thought hmmm.... I bet Konner would love this little guy... Then again Konner is only 3 months... Well Konner goes in tomorrow to see if his platelet levels have picked up and if they have then he doesn't have to go back till Wednesday of next week. If they are still low then he has to get a transfusion. Thank you again for all your amazing support and prayers.

Today Konner is doing great!!! Since he had his Transfusion on Friday he has been doing so much better. I didnt realize how much color he had actually lost. He looks like a healthy lil baby minus the hair loss. He is all SMILES and has not thrown up for 2 days!!

Hey everyone,

Konner is really sick right now. He has been vomiting non stop the last couple of days and its ALOT not just a little spit up here and there. I mean it soaks up his shirt and blankets. Good thing he had an apt today to check his levels. Unfortunately his Hemoglobin levels are really low so he has to get a transfusion. Hopefully with this transfusion he will start to feel better. Please keep him in your prayers today!

Here are 2 pictures of Konner. Most of you have already seen these, if I have your email address. The first one of him is before chemo round 2 and the 2nd is right after chemo. You can also see how much his hair has thinned out since starting chemo. It is falling out in clumps still.

Konner is doing good so far. He has spit up a couple of times today and he was a little sick last night. I am trying to keep up on his meds too keep him comfortable. He is still all smiles and it warms my heart. I love my baby and I cant wait to get him healthy!

So we are still here. So far things are going good. Konner has been resting for about 2 hours. He is finally done with chemo he is just getting his after fluids to help flush the chemo out of his bladder. No complications and he is a little champ. I will make sure to update through out the week. Also I'm not sure if I have put on here that Konners hair has been falling out slot lately. His pillow was covered in hair. But he is still smilling.

Its almost time for round 2 of chemo and I feel as though I have not slept in over a month. Konner is more and more uncomfortable and im not sure if its cause of the meds he is taking or from the 1st round of chemo. His hair is also starting to thin out. Today we were able to get his pictures taken as well as our family pictures too. Matt Greggersen from Vain Photography is a good friend of ours and he did such an amazing job. As soon as he is done with them I will post a few of Konner on here. Konner is such a precious little guy. And even all that he is going through you would never be able to tell that he has cancer. He is such a little trooper!

Run For Konner's Fight Update!

Ok guys its Official the Run benefiting Konner is set!!! Wooohoooo Im pretty excited and cant wait for it. Its on the same day that my dad passed away on. So it really truly means alot to me and my family. How awesome to remember my dad and support my son / his grandson in such away!! Well here are all the details.

Date: Saturday June 19th
Time: 6:30 am - 10:30 am
Place: Show Low City Park ~ Old Pavillion
Show Low, Arizona

5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile fun run.
Early Registration begins today and ends June 1, 2010.
Late registration will be accepted until the day of the event.

5K Early Registration $20.00, Late Registration $25.00.
1 Mile Early Registration $15.00, Late Registration $20.00.

Checks should be made payable to Erin Dowdy and mailed with Registration Form to Victoria Heuett, P.O. Box 3528, Show Low, AZ 85902.

To print a registration form click on the picture to the right of the screen that is titled " RUN FOR KONNER". That will take you to the registration form. Click print in the upper left hand corner!

Forms can also be found at local sponsors office. A list will be provided as we acquire sponsors.

Clinc Appointment today

Today Konner had his 2nd Appointment at the Clinic today. He looks really good and the Dr said I can STOP giving him his Neupogen shots!!! His White Blood Count was at 30,000!!! That is crazy high so no more shots till after his 2nd round of Chemo. His ANC levels were rising so that is good as well. His Platelet levels were a little low but not low enough for a transfusion so that is great! He will start his 2nd round as scheduled on the 11th! Also another one of his test came back and his tumor is considered normal and not abnormal so that is some other great news. His Dr. said that all the test are coming back favorable for lil Konner!!! Thank You all for your PRAYERS keep them up cause they are working!!!!

Peaceful Sunday...........

Today has been just that, A peaceful Sunday. Konner has been doing good today. A little less pain then the other days. Today Kyle Let me sleep in till 12 can you believe that. I have not slept that long in SOOOOO LONG! It was a much needed rest since I have been getting about 4 - 5 hours tops, of sleep since Konner was Diagnosed with NB. And it was also nice for Kyle to bond with all 3 boys!

Tomorrow is Konner's next Clinic appointment with Dr. Eshun. I am hoping that things go great! Im also going to see if they will give the lil man a different kind of pain killer. The one he is on doesnt seem to be working. I hope that Konner's ANC levels are on the mends so we can so kick off with our 2nd round! I want to get my little man back to 100%!. And thanks to all of the AMAZING people he has in his life we are on our way! Thank you again for being so nice to our family. Thank you For all your wonderful prayers!

Hey everyone the run for Konner is underway. It is scheduled as of now for Saturday June 19th. It is a 5k and a 1 mile Fun Run. I have registration forms that will be ready next week for people wanting to participate. If you would like to help out with the run instead of Participate email and let me know.
